I am the mother of three bilingual daughters (ages 9, 17, and 19) and have been working in multilingual school environments since 2014—in Germany, Kazakhstan, and the U.S.  As a teacher, I see my role not only in imparting knowledge, but also in sparking enthusiasm and curiosity about the German language and culture, as well as about German-speaking countries themselves.  In my lessons, I love using games, music, art, and children’s literature to make learning content a multisensory experience. Reading aloud is my superpower!  It’s especially important to me to meet each child where they are—whether they’re a native speaker or learning German as a second or third language. In my classroom, students are free to experiment with words, make mistakes, draw stick-figure comics, and sing “off-key”—as long as they keep enjoying the process of learning!
